5/12/19

I was reading Jacob 5 this week, and not getting very into it.  Then I happened upon an interview with Julie B Beck, where she happened to refer to Jacob 5 as a parable for how the Lord prunes and works to shape our individual lives (not just applied the House of Israel).  I restarted that chapter, and LOVED the comparison! Pruning and digging about is often uncomfortable and feels damaging, and takes FOREVER (77 VERSES!!), but the Lord weeping over us and nourishing us so long and WORKING so tirelessly so helps my perspective on trials.

Our routine's gradually slimming as things finish up--just violin and track this week.  Emily got to run the 800 in Region!!--PR-ing by 6 seconds!!! She also knocked out 2 of her 3 AP tests, and was selected to be Math Sterling Scholar for the school!!

Had a planning meeting for 2 bridal showers in the ward--Maddie being one of them--this ward & their organized maps/invitation delivering, etc. is unreal.  Some of these stellar women are the ones I play pickleball with--we finally got a picture of us this week (I've been doing this almost a year--glad they waited until my belly was this big!).

After a good run & some yard work Saturday, I took Anne & Lucy on a long ride to Cedar Hills for a wedding reception of my sweet friend Kristy's son.  Mutual friend Amanda & I arranged to be there at the same, and Kristy's parents, and a brother were also there, so it was SO fun to sit and visit in that beautiful weather! I had had a doozy of a day on Friday, I'd messed up w/ Dad, felt SO full of failure & discouragement & got wrapped up in how little progress I have, but that time with dear ones so boosted my spirits--I came home really refreshed and happy.  Had fun visiting so long w/ Anne & Lucy in the car too! I love how game they always are for any shower/reception!  Friendships have really been one of my greatest blessings in every stage of my life.

Praying that all went well with the baptism yesterday, and the other two upcoming!  I'm so touched by people's prayers for the missionaries now--there are lots! The kids have spoiled me all day for Mother's Day--AMAZING breakfast, cards, and love--and Dad's now making a famous Taiwanese dish for dinner!!!

Love you so much! Love, Mom

p.s. huge deal in dear old Box Elder County as the Golden Spike celebrated its 150th anniversary!! Pres. Nelson spoke!, a member of Trump's cabinet came, and the music/ reenactment was WAY higher quality than that year you got to go w/ the band--haha! we just watched it online instead of fighting crowds

p.p.s. the population of painted lady butterflies is in an explosion year!--the likes of which we haven't seen for 20 years (or won't have for another 20 years!) Walking last Sunday, I tried to capture them on video--there were literally SWARMS around the blossom trees--& we see them all over! Feels like heaven
