Valentine Girl!! & SPRINGing into the Basement

Lucy STILL gets super excited about every heart she ever sees--convinced it's somehow connected to her and her Valentine's Birthday (which is actually the day BEFORE Valentine's--let's hold off on unlucky #'s for a few more years!).  She picked Lucky Charms for breakfast, McDonald's for lunch, and Macaroni and Cheese for dinner, with a Minion cake for dessert.  She only had a backpack and magnetic LalaLoopsy doll to open since my online order was DELAYED!!! :(  , but we did a little "follow the yarn" hunt to find a picture of what was coming (a newborn baby doll), and I told her it was like waiting for a REAL new baby--you never know just when it will arrive! (but I don't think that made it more fun).  I was just feeling a little badly that I hadn't planned for her to have a little more to play with than a backpack (especially when we spent most of the day working on the basement!!), when she got a sweet lego kit dropped off by her Kindergarten carpool buddy Korver, and a sweet cookbook from Kendralynn.  (Friends save the day!) She also had a blast shopping and picking out some new little pets with G&G $.

We celebrated Valentine's Day w/ a big family feast of baked pasta, heart-shaped breadsticks, spinach & strawberry salad, w/ cherry cheesecake for dessert (plus treats and packages from grandparents to decorate the table and brighten days).

Lucy entered six-dom with gusto too!!--quickly losing her first tooth AND learning to ride a two-wheeler on the same day!!

We FINALLY got our carpet in the next week, and I left after that long 6 months of work for a break at Time Out for Women in Layton w/ Stacey & her mom.  Such a welcome treat, and great uplift!

In between moving a BUNCH of things from the garage down to the basement, and then unpacking and cleaning and organizing in a very FEELS-LIKE-WE'RE-MOVING-AGAIN way, we finished up Spencer's basketball season, have gotten QUITE carried away with the political primaries (our kids-all speaking ages--can't believe they have friends who don't know the names, "Cruz, Rubio, or Kasich"!), and then finding GREAT hope & perspective in positive things like FAMILY HISTORY at our stake's Family Discovery Day.

We've enjoyed dessert nights w/ sweet families in the ward, watching neighbor boys for a Mom w/ crazy headachesI helped on a RS Food Committe for our Ward Birthday Dinner, hearing from the Lt Governor's amazing wife, Abby Cox, and then staying after for HOURS chatting with dear know-my-heart women!!

We're finally making real progress on the FINISHING part of the basement, and feeling even more settled:

This most recent weekend, we, in 2 groups, finally went to see the new Star Wars movie!!! We LOVED it!!--so fabulous and SO full of hope, and just so FUN!!! I got to take the boys, and also took the youngers to the Bird Refuge while Brian was with the (older) girls.  Gorgeous to feel SPRING coming, to have crocuses blooming in our yard!!

And for spring time fun, a few selfies w/ the not-so-new selfie stick :)
